Tuesday's election for one of the at-large seats on the Decorah City Council will feature Kirk Johnson and Jim McIntosh as the two candidates. Whichever one wins will take a seat on the city council in November--not in January.
Decorah City Attorney Rick Zahasky says because the city council member currently serving that at-large district--Tade Kerndt--was appointed, not elected to the seat, the elected winner of the at-large election will take the position as soon as election results are certified.
That probably meant that Monday night's city council meeting was the last one for Kerndt. He thanked everyone for their help and concluded, "I've enjoyed my time."
