October weather in Decorah was warm and dry

Temperatures in Decorah in October averaged 53 degrees, according to Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz.  That's 2.7 degrees warmer than normal.

Temperatures in Decorah in October reached as high as 84 degrees, which set an all-time record for October 11th.  The average high for the month was 65.5 degrees, which was 3.6 degrees higher than normal.

Bernatz says compared with other Octobers for which records were kept in Decorah, October of 2015 was not as warm as 22 other Octobers, but warmer than 98 other Octobers.

Decorah's dry spell continued in October.  There was 1.86 inches of precipitation--all of it coming after October 22nd.  1.23 inches of that total fell on October 28th.

Nine of the past 12 months have now been drier than average.  Precipitation has been 3.29 inches less than normal over the past 12 months.
