NEICAC now taking heating assistance applications from the public

Posted: Sun, Nov 1, 2015 7:39 PM

NEICAC's Family Service Offices on Monday will start taking applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

This year the household income eligibility has been raised from 150 percent of federal poverty level to 175 percent.

This program is funded through the Iowa Department of Human Rights.  It has been established to help qualifying low-income Iowa homeowners and renters pay a portion of their primary heating costs.  All low-income Northeast Iowans are encouraged to apply, including senior citizens and individuals with disabilities.  Households burning wood/corn/coal or where heat is included as part of the rent may also be eligible for assistance.

If your household applied for LIHEAP in the 2014-2015 LIHEAP program year, your application can also be done online at: http://www.neicac.org/energy.html .

For more information visit the NEICAC Family Service Office at 305 Montgomery Street in Decorah, or call (563) 382-8436, extension 150.
