It's looking more likely that the John Deere Tech Program Building on the NICC Calmar campus will be getting some renovations in the future.
The NICC Board of Trustees has approved designating three years' worth of funding from a state program called "Accelerated Careers in Education" to pay for upgrades to the building at the Calmar campus. State ACE funds may only be used for infrastructure and not for equipment.
A team at NICC has already been formed to look at the facility. The architectural firm of Invision has been hired to study the feasibility and costs of upgrading the facility.
"The John Deere TECH program has been at the college for at least a quarter century, and it is a premier program in the country," said NICC President Dr. Liang Chee Wee, who added, "This is a good investment for the college, for the State of Iowa and for John Deere, corporate and dealerships."
