The Decorah Viking Marching Band has received a Division 1 rating at the Iowa High School Music Association's State Marching Festival.
Performing Saturday in Waterloo the Vikings received their 14th consecutive Division I ("Superior") rating. This year's show was from the Rock Opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Music selections included "Heaven on Their Minds," "Superstar," "Everything's Alright," "Hosanna," "I Don't Know How to Love Him," "John 19:41," and a reprise of "Superstar."
The Pride of the Vikings marching band is under the direction of Dustin Bliven and assisted by Matt Cody and Emily Hahn. The drumline is under the direction Jerry Dean, Peter Ries and Sylvia Kaare. The Color Guard is under the direction of Jennifer Bliven. Drum Majors are Dalton Brown, Naomi Davidson, and Morgan Minear. The drill design was created by Ted Reicher and the Color Guard choreography was designed by Damon Harrington.
