Nashville-based filmmaker Jonathan Rattner wants to make a film about Decorah--but he needs your help.
Rattner, an assistant professor of cinema and media arts and art at Vanderbilt University, is asking Decorah residents to shoot one-minute videos on their smart phones. The videos can be of about a person you care about doing what that person loves, a location that means a lot to you in Decorah, everyday moments that you find representative of your life, sounds of places and people, or about people sharing their favorite moments that took place in Decorah.
The deadline for submitting a video is next Wednesday, October 21st.
"Make sure you hold your phone horizontally with two hands and record for at least one minute," Rattner suggests. "Keep your camera in a steady position and avoid panning or zooming, and if you want sound, record close to the subject. Most of all have fun and take risks."
To submit your one-minute film, upload the video file to a computer and e-mail the video to driflessfilm2015@gmail.com with the subject header "driftless-submission" and your name. If you have questions, e-mail driftlessfilm2015@gmail.com or director@oneotafilmfestival.org.
