Ask Mr. Answer Person: "When is Trick or Treating in Decorah?"

Charlie e-mails: "Halloween falls on a Saturday evening this year.  In Decorah, is Trick or Treating encouraged that night, or on Friday night?"

Mr. Answer Person says, "The answer to your question surprised me.  There is NO "Halloween Czar" in Decorah!

Apparently years ago there was a conflict between a Decorah High School playoff football game and Trick or Treating, so the City of Decorah issued a statement suggesting Trick or Treating be delayed one day.

But both Decorah Police Chief Bill Nixon and Decorah Mayor Don Arendt say setting a day and time for Trick or Treating is not part of their job description!

So enjoy Trick or Treating whenever you want, kids.  And be careful out there!
