Louisian Governor Bobby Jindal brought his campaign for the Republican Party's presidential nomination to Decorah's Pizza Ranch at noon Tuesday and served up what at times seemed like a revival meeting.
Jindal touched a number of times on almost an end-of-times message, saying Christian values are under assault in America and "The hour is late for our country."
"They want to take God out of the public square--and we're not going to let them do it," he said to a crowd of around 125 people. A return to Christian values would counter the "moral decay" that currently exists after seven years of Barack Obama's presidency.
Interestingly, Jindal said he is currently angrier with Republicans in Congress than he is with Democrats, who he says are just doing what they say they would do. "What good is the Republican Party?" he asked, questioning how D.C. Republicans could fail to repeal ObamaCare, stop Planned Parenthood funding or stop the treaty with Iran. Term limits for politicians are needed, he said, adding that there also ought to be restrictions on how soon ex-congressmen can go to work as lobbyists.
Jindal spent time talking about his parents, who "came to this country legally." He called for an end to the Sanctuary Cities program and concluded his remarks on immigration by saying, "We need to insist on assimilation."
Jindal has spent several weeks campaigning in Iowa. He left Decorah for a campaign stop in Iowa City.
