Enrollment in Decorah schools might stay steady this year

Certified enrollment figures for the Decorah School District weren't quite ready in time for Monday night's school board meeting.  But school district officials say they do NOT expect a decline in enrollment.

Preliminary figures place Decorah enrollment this fall at 1,385 students--which is exactly the same figure as last year.  Since many school districts in Northeast Iowa have been suffering the results of declining enrollment, a stable enrollment would be good news in Decorah.

School district officials also say 239 students have used open enrollment into the Decorah School District this fall.
