The Daughters of the American Revolution marked its 125th anniversary on Sunday. The group was founded on October 11th, 1890. The DAR is comprised of the descendants of the patriots who won the American Revolution.
In Northeast Iowa, members of the Hannah Lee Chapter of the DAR have marked the 125th anniversary at area cemeteries by cleaning veterans' monuments at the West Union Cemetery and at Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.
The DAR was founded as a service organization to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism.
