The City of Decorah will borrow money to buy a new street sweeper.
The city's current sweeper is a 1999 model with over 10,000 miles of use. It has developed a problem with an auxiliary motor, so city officials have looked into buying a new street sweeper.
On Monday night the city council voted 7-0 to borrow up to $193,000 to buy a new sweeper. The loan will be at 1.75 percent interest. Funds to pay the loan will be taken from the street budget for the next three years.
