Posted: Sun, Oct 4, 2015 3:57 PM

Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation has started taking applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

ONLY households with individuals who are 60 years old or older, or are disabled, or have a written disconnection notice or are currently disconnected from their heating or electricity provider can apply for the assistance in October.  All other households may apply starting on November 2nd.

NEW this year – the household income eligibility has been raised from 150 percent of the federal poverty level to 175 percent.  The program is not designed to pay a household's total energy costs, but to provide supplemental assistance based on several factors, including household income.

If your household applied for heating assistance last heating season, your applications can also be done online at: http://www.neicac.org/energy.html .

For more information, contact NEICAC at either (563) 382-9608 or (563) 382-8436, extension 150.
