Decorah resident Sarah Brandt was selected as the winner of the "Singing with the Broadway Stars" competition held recently using the cast of the show, "Neil Berg's '100 Years of Broadway.'
One winner and 12 runners-up were chosen from a pool of 30 applicants. Brandt, along with the runners-up, joined the cast of "Neil Berg's '100 Years of Broadway'" onstage to perform "Seasons of Love" from the musical "Rent." Brandt sang the lead solo parts, accompanied by the runners-up and the Broadway stars singing the chorus.
Brandt, the daughter of Loren and Janine Brandt of Postville, graduated from Luther in May 2015 with a degree in theatre. At Luther, she was on the executive board for the Performing Arts Committee and worked in Campus Programming and the theatre department.
Brandt is active in Decorah's New Minowa Players Community Theatre, acting in 10 plays and directing and stage-managing two performances. She is currently a production director and an afternoon radio announcer at KDEC FM 100.5 in Decorah.
