If you're walking or riding your bike on the Trout Run Trail or the Freeport Trail, you might soon notice some changes--additional signs are going up on both trails.
The Freeport Trail will be getting mileage marker signs every half mile, as well as directional signs. Both the Freeport Trail and the Trout Run Trail will also be getting GPS marker signs.
The GPS signs will give more accurate information about the location of a walker or bike rider who needs help. The signs are being installed as part of an Eagle Scout project, with help from Jon Lubke from the Winneshiek County IT Department.
Because the GPS signs will be perpendicular to the trails, members of the 28E Committee on Tuesday decided the mile marker signs themselves, which are posted parallel to the trail, don't need to be changed. 28E Committee members believe the new GPS signs will give more visibility to the mile markers--without having to order additional signs and change their orientation.
