Luther College has now added an indoor LED video display board and statistic panels with electronic captions to the existing scoreboard in the Regents Center gymnasium.
The improvements were funded by a gift from Kent and Mitzi Evenstad of Monona, Wisconsin and from funding from the Norse Athletic Association, formed in 2007 to meet the increasing costs associated with running an NCAA Division III athletics program.
At Luther, Kent Evenstad played basketball and ran track for the Norse while earning his degree, majoring in mathematics and minoring in education, physical education and economics. He was an educator in Wisconsin and coached basketball, baseball and football. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997 and served as an executive board member of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. He received a Distinguished Service Award from Luther in 2002.
The Evenstad's son, John (Luther class of 1988), also was on the Luther basketball team for four years.
