The Northeast Iowa Community College's Board of Trustees has approved a $5 per credit hour increase in the price of tuition and fees for out of state students.   The current fee for non-resident students is $167 per credit hour rate.  The new fee will be $172.

Approximately 600 to 700 non-resident students enroll at NICC each year.  Out-of-state students who entered NICC in the fall this year will be grandfathered in and will encounter no additional increase in spring/summer2016. The new rate will affect new students enrolling in the spring 2016 semester.

Since 2000, NICC was the only community college in the state to have the same tuition rate for residents of Iowa and non-resident students.

Said NICC President Liang Chee Wee "Many of our students come to us from long distances outside of Iowa, yet tuition is not the topic of their discussions with us."
