Nine food writers are touring Decorah and NE Iowa this week in what the Iowa Tourism Office is billing as the "Foodie Heaven NE Tour."
The food article writers come from Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Nebraska and as far away as Oregon and Florida. They are staying at the Hotel Winneshiek through Thursday and touring area food attractions.
After having dinner at Restauration Monday night and breakfast at Ruby's Tuesday morning, the group will be touring Homestead Dairy, Peake Orchards and Empty Nest Winery in the Waukon area before returning to Decorah for visits to Toppling Goliath Brewing, Pulpit Rock Brewing, La Rana and the Whippy Dip on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
On Wednesday the food writers will visit Luther College, Seed Savers, Patchwork Green Farm, Ellickson Organics, Pinter's Garden & Pumpkins, Sherlock Shrimp, the Winneshiek Farmers Market, Oneota Community Food Co-op and McCaffrey's Dolce Vita.
After having breakfast at Java John's Coffee House on Thursday and then visiting Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, the group will depart Decorah.
