Two Winneshiek County residents receive peer support group training

Posted: Wed, Sep 16, 2015 3:32 PM

Thanks to a grant from the Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation, two Decorah residents have completed a three-day training course to become facilitators for peer support groups.

These groups are open to adults who are in recovery with mental illness.  Participation in all NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) classes and support groups is confidential.

Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center and Families First counseling, co-recipients of the grant, and local NAMI organizers anticipate peer support group start up in mid-October.  Interested individuals may inquire by calling (563) 382-5337.
