North Winneshiek School Board elects officers for the new year

Brenda Kreitzer has been elected president and Ben Lange vice-president of the North Winneshiek School Board for the 2015-2016 school year.

Holding their first meeting of the school year as the 2015-2016 school board, members also appointed Jon Wangsness to the Winneshiek County Conference Board, Scott Fairchild as an Iowa Association of School Board delegate and Myron Rediske as the Legislative Action Network Representative.

The North Winn board also approved Wendy Twait as the district's secretary/treasurer, named three law firms to handle the district's legal matters and named Decorah Bank and Trust and Viking State Bank and Trust as the school district's depository banks.

Earlier Monday evening, the final meeting of the 2014-2015 North Winneshiek School Board approved an application to the School Budget Review Committee to request $175,817 in allowable growth and supplemental aid to cover the 2014-2015 special education deficit.  The district will not be harmed financially from the special education deficit.  Allowable growth gives the district permission to spend funds to cover the special education deficit from the previous school year.
