Newest Decorah police officer sworn in

The Decorah Police Department is now back to full strength following the hiring of Decorah native Casey Smith as the department's 12th officer.

Smith is a Decorah native who graduated from Decorah High School in 2011.  He then attended Waldorf College, doing an internship with the Decorah Police Department while at college.  Smith gradated from Waldorf in 2014 with a degree in criminal justice.  He says he's pleased to be able to return to Decorah.

Smith will undergo training for the rest of this year, then will attend Police Academy in January.
