After last fall's drop in enrollment, Luther College officials are getting much better news this fall.

655 new students--freshmen and transfers--have arrived on campus.  That's a big increase from last year's total of 559 freshmen and 49 transfers.  Luther officials are calling the increase of 55 over last fall's numbers "excellent," especially in what is a competitive environment for colleges.

One of the factors that led to the increase in student enrollment this fall was an increase in the number of student visits to campus during last school year.  Visits were up 23 percent in 2014-2015 from the previous school year and officials say campus visits are up again this school year.

Luther welcomed 800 potential students and family members during Iowa Private Colleges Week.  The school will continue to try to get prospective students to visit campus, since that's an important indicator of how large an incoming class of students will be.
