Four firms from Northeast Iowa have been hired to construct the new NICC Beef Facility.
The NICC Board of Trustees has approved hiring Upper Iowa Construction of Cresco as the general contractor for the project for $728,400. Also hired were Bacon Concrete of Postville for $140,726.62 to do the site work for the building; Becker Hardware of Ossian for $140,464 to do the mechanical systems and See Electric of Decorah for $31,120 to do the electrical work.
The new beef facility will be located north of Iowa's Dairy Center, replacing an aging facility. The new facility will have 13,750 square feet of space and will be used by Beef Science Technology, Large Animal Veterinary Technician, Agriculture Business and Dairy Science students,

NICC estimates that the total project cost, including construction, architect, construction manager, engineer, equipment and miscellaneous expenses, as well as other construction required for compliance as a public higher education facility, will be $1,267,498. The facility is expected to be completed late this fall.
