What's it like to work at Toppling Goliath? Members of the Decorah Rotary Club hear from two TG employees

Toppling Goliath employees John Netolicky and John Ferguson on Tuesday gave Decorah Rotary a behind-the-scenes look at the beers that are making Decorah famous.

Netolicky says his job as a "beer production specialist" is "the hardest easy job I've ever had."  That's because making beer requires just four ingredients, but it's a "constant challenge" to make sure every step goes well.  The process has a thousand variables and is "one-third art, one-third science and one-third magic," he says.

The two are among two dozen Toppling Goliath employees.  The company recently announced plans to build a new brewery in the Decorah Business Park and to partner with Brew Hub so several Toppling Goliath craft beers, including PseudoSue and Dorothy's, will be brewed in Florida.

Netolicky says that's good news for Decorah.  "Are we going to outgrow Decorah, No!" he states.  Instead the expansion will allow Toppling Goliath to produce its specialty beers in Decorah--some of the same beers that have been rated as in the list of "Top 100 Beers in the World."  That leads Netolicky to conclude, "There's something really, really special (going on) here."
