The Iowa State Fair was especially important for Decorah resident Daiton Tietz this year.
During Saturday's Iowa State Fair Sale of Champions, Daiton learned she had received a $1,000 scholarship from the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement, which sponsors the Sale of Champions.
Daiton, the daughter of Galen and Melanie Tietz of Decorah, received a FFA & IFAA Foundation Scholarship. Those scholarships are awarded to graduating high school students who will become freshmen in the fall at Iowa State University and plan to major either in family and consumer science or in majors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Applicants also must have been a participant in Iowa State Fair FFA events/activities.
The Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement awarded a total of over $195,000 in scholarships at the Sale of Champions.
