Strong winds earlier this summer took down the tree branch on which the newest nest of the Decorah Bald Eagles was located. That meant the end of the webcam for this year, but Raptor Resource Project volunteers are hoping the webcam will be back to normal next year.
Their idea is very clever--to do the repair work themselves so the eagles might return to the nest this winter.
On Wednesday afternoon volunteers began to take branches and sticks up a into the tree. Constructing a new eagles' nest will take through Friday. Then Raptor Resource Project members will just have to wait to see how the eagles react to the replacement nest.
