The Winneshiek County Planning and Zoning Commission is now seeking written comments on a proposed revised zoning ordinance.

The Commission has been working on making several changes to the ordinance including but not limited to the addition of regulation of Industrial Mineral Mining.  The zoning ordinance regulates land use, development, and construction within the unincorporated areas of Winneshiek County.

The proposed ordinance is available on the county website, www.winneshiekcounty.org.  Copies will be available to view in the office of the zoning administrator, located in the courthouse at 201 West Main St, Decorah.

The commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed ordinance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 8th in the Courthouse.  The public is invited to submit written comments on the proposed ordinance to the zoning administrator until noon on Tuesday, September 1st at 201 West Main St, Decorah or by email at zoning@co.winneshiek.ia.us .  These comments will be compiled and distributed to the commission members before the public hearing, where the commission is expected to make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on the adoption of the ordinance.

Please contact the Winneshiek County Zoning office with questions.
