Former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Rick Santorum is known for his positions on social issues such as abortion and gay marriage.  But at a campaign stop in Decorah Saturday night, Santorum spent a lot of time talking about foreign policies.

Santorum told a crowd of 40 people at Toppling Goliath that nobody wants to put boots on the ground in the Middle East, "But I don't want the war to come to the United States."  He told his audience that ISIS is a threat because the group is using the fact that it controls land in the Middle East as proof that it is blessed by Allah.

Santorum says in order to defeat ISIS, America must take away the land it controls.  That's a job that might require 10,000 American troops in Iraq and Syria, he says.

The Republican presidential candidate says he would increase military spending and reverse the policies of President Obama, whom he says is "deliberately helping our enemies" in the hopes they will be placated.  Santorum said if he's elected president he would would concentrate on a strong defense and protecting the values of faith and family.
