Some gun permit holders should start permit renewal now

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department is notifying the public that the first wave of weapon permits are expiring on January 1st.

However, anyone who wants to renew their permit needs to renew it 30 days or more before the expiration date of the permit AND have attended a training class within the past 12 months.  There are no exceptions to this training requirement for renewals--including DD-214 forms.
