If you've ever thought about serving on the Decorah City Council, now might be a good time for you to run.
Voters in November will be asked to elect one at-large council member and three council members from districts--one each in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th wards. Of those four election contests, three will not have an incumbent--only Andy Carlson in the 3rd Ward will be seeking re-election.
Candidates can take out nomination papers at any time by stopping in the City Clerk's Office at City Hall. 25 signatures from people living in the district are required in order to qualify for a spot on the ballot. Nomination papers can be filed at City Hall from August 24th through September 17th.
