The director of the Decorah-based Raptor Resource Project, Bob Anderson, has died.
The death was announced on the organization's Facebook page, which added that an official announcement will be made in the days to come.
It was Anderson who led the effort to build the Decorah bald eagle webcam, which has attracted millions of viewers worldwide.
Anderson was also deeply involved in efforts to protect the peregrine falcon. The Facebook announcement says, "Although Bob was very proud of his work with the Decorah Eagles, his heart was truly in his peregrine falcon recovery work."
A video showing his efforts on behalf of the peregrine falcon is posted above.
