Bluffs Inn could be demolished to make way for a new development

Posted: Tue, Jul 21, 2015 6:40 PM
The proposed development involves all of the Bluffs Inn property, the Oaks Steakhouse restaurant and the house between Bluffs Inn and Pizza Hut

Under a plan being proposed by the owners of the Hotel Winneshiek, the Bluffs Inn in Decorah would be demolished to make room for a new development.

Included in the plans by Rebound Winneshiek—the company that owns the Hotel Winneshiek and other hotels in the Midwest—is a request for tax assistance from the City of Decorah.  Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird says the city's Economic Development Committee will meet next Monday to discuss the proposal.  Bird says a number of options have been proposed by the new owners of the Bluffs Inn property, including a tax abatement on any new development or some financial help for the costs of demolishing the Bluffs Inn.

The Bluffs Inn properties are currently owned by Bluff's Acquisitions, LLC, a limited-liability company whose registered agent is West Union attorney Jeffrey Clements.   The hotel and the restaurant on the property are currently closed.  Signs on the property announce "Sale Pending."
