The Decorah City Council has approved the first reading of changes to the city's zoning code amendments that make changes to the city's sign ordinance.
Under the new language approved Monday night no digital signs or billboards would be allowed--especially within the central business district. Members of the Planning & Zoning Commission who wrote the new language felt such signs were inappropriate in the area.
The rewritten sign ordinance will require two more readings and approvals before becoming law.
