Decorah Police Chief Bill Nixon told members of the Decorah City Council on Monday evening that his department's activity in 2014 was fairly consistent with years past.

Decorah Police responded to 3,588 calls for service in 2014--a drop of 63 calls from the year before.  "We're in pretty good shape," Nixon told city council members, citing the steady number of calls in the past five years.

Decorah Police made 404 arrests in 2014.  Of those, 247 arrests involved either alcohol or drug offenses.  Nixon says his department is proactive in investigating drug and alcohol complaints.

The Decorah Police Department's annual report also mentioned the high levels of citizen satisfaction with the department.  A customer satisfaction survey taken last year showed overwhelming support for the work of the police department.
