A severe thunderstorm early Saturday morning rolled through Decorah and the lightning and wind from the storm broke off the eagle's nest tree about twenty feet below the nest.  There was lots of damage to the woods surrounding the nest tree — which is now just a stump.

Raptor Resource Project Director Bob Anderson says all three young eaglets are accounted for, as has one of the adult eagles.  Says Anderson, "We are all glad that all three eaglets are accounted for and once again survived heavy lightning and/winds."
