South Winneshiek High School agriscience teacher Melissa Brincks has completed a nine-day professional development institute at Tennessee State University.

Brincks spent 80 hours working through nearly every lesson in the year-long Agricultural Power and Technology program of the Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education course.

CASE equips teachers to elevate student experiences in the agriculture classroom, and prepares students for success in college and careers emphasizing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Fewer than 50 teachers nationwide are currently certified in this course.  Brincks' participation in the program was made possible by a grant from the Iowa Governor's STEM Council.
