Getting to Cresco from Decorah is getting trickier with the start of the Pole Line Road project

The good news is that many roads in the Decorah area are getting repaired this summer.  The bad news is that getting around will be difficult while the road projects are underway.

State Highway projects have already started on Highway 9 west of Decorah and on U.S. Highway 52 north of the intersection with Highway 9.  Earlier this week construction started on Pole Line Road west of Highway 52.

Traffic is still moving on Highway 9 and Highway 52.  Pole LIne Road is open to local traffic--but not all the way to Cresco.

Winneshiek County Engineer Lee Bjerke says signs are going up soon directing traffic to use Madison Road as an alternate route to Cresco.  Work on installing drainage pipes will be done on six sections of Pole Line Road, so Bjerke is urging motorists to get used to finding a new "shortcut" to Cresco.
