Investigation is continuing into car/train accident

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate an early Tuesday morning collision between a car and a train.

47-year-old Bernal Salgado of Austin, MInnesota drove into a driveway off of Highway 52 to turn around at around 2:15 Tuesday morning.  When he had turned around and was exiting the driveway he was struck on the railroad tracks by an oncoming train.

The accident destroyed Salgado's car.  The train had no damage.  The driver was later located in Calmar by the Calmar Police Department.
