Three Decorah School Board terms expiring; two expected to re-file for election

Three members of the Decorah Community School Board have terms expiring in September: John Hjelle, Brian Petersburg and Melanie Tietz.  Hjelle and Petersburg have indicated they will re-file, while Tietz will end her service after 12 years on the board.

All board positions are now "at-large" positions, in contrast to the previous district representation.

According to the Iowa Secretary of State, "Nomination papers must be filed with the school secretary during the filing period. They cannot be filed before or after the filing period. The filing period is Monday, July 6, 2015 through 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30th. There are no filing fees in Iowa."

The election will be held September 8, with board members being installed at the September 21 board meeting.
