On Monday night Director of Information, Systems and Instructional Technology Kurt Devore told the Decorah Community School Board that things were going well, now that the district has completed its first full semester of the 1:1 "Digital Learning Environment" for students.
DeVore said that two technicians were mid way in the process of "cleaning" up the approximately 1800 machines used by students in the district, and was hopeful that the task could be completed by the start of school. He was pleased to note that less that 1/3 of one percent of the computers had been seriously damaged.
DeVore also said a number of staff had been at training events. He looks forward to next year as staff begin a new approach to training – where they will engage in personalized professional learning (defining their own training needs), with the hope that small learning groups will emerge from that process.
