Letter to the Editor asks for help with Decorah Butterfly Garden

Posted: Thu, Jul 9, 2015 6:00 PM

The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Jerri Osenga of Decorah:

"Sprouting from our fragrant city prairie where the butterflies are gently soaring, comes a dream.  Of gardening help in the City Butterfly Garden, where our native plants are growing into and over each other.  A dream that this glorious garden may yet survive.  It has survived floods but not neglect.  Part-time gardeners can be an important part of its restoration.
If you are interested you will be asked to adopt a small plot of a specific plant in need of weeding and watering throughout this growing season.  You may choose when you are able to tend it.
Also you are invited to join our grungy gardening crew on Monday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00.

Please call Jerri Osenga, the head grunge, at 277-1064 to be introduced to your adopted plant."
