Members of the Decorah Parks & Recreation Board have given their approval to three possible designs for a new water slide at the Decorah Swimming Pool.
Consulting firm Burbach Aquatics, Inc. was told to seek bids on three water slide designs that were recommended by the community water slide committee, which had been studying different designs over the last couple months.
The Parks and Recreation Board has been budgeting for a new water slide for about the last 10 years in anticipation of making this replacement. The estimated cost of the base option of these slides is $243,000.
The Park-Rec Department will ask for bids in September, then open bids in late September or early October. Construction of the water slide will be finished in time for next year's pool opening, although some construction work might begin late this fall.
