Postville woman injured in one-car accident on Highway 9

A Postville woman was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by ambulance Tuesday night following an accident on Highway 9 near the Pleasant Avenue overpass.

Decorah Police say 32-year-old Jeaneen Kleppe of Postville told them the accelerator on her SUV began to accelerate on its own.  Kleppe tried to stop the car, but the brakes failed to slow down the vehicle.  The SUV left the roadway and entered the south ditch, colliding with a culvert.

The car sustained $6,000 in damages.  Kleppe was not ticketed.
