Postville resident Tyrone Wilson has entered a "guilty" plea to federal charges stemming from the May 12th robbery of the State Bank in Calmar.
Appearing in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa courtroom in Cedar Rapids on Thursday, Wilson entered a "guilty" plea to the charge of bank robbery by force or violence.
Court documents say the judge at the hearing ruled that "the guilty plea was knowing and voluntary, and that the offense charged is supported by an independent basis in fact."
The judge also ruled that there was no plea agreement that led to Wilson entering the guilty plea and that Wilson was not suffering from any mental disease at the time of the "guilty" plea.
As a result, Wilson will be sentenced on the federal charges stemming from the State Bank robbery.
Winneshiek County authorities say Wilson entered Security State Bank in Calmar around 10:30 a.m. on May 12th and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured at the bank.
