The Winneshiek County Fairgrounds will present a new look to the 2015 Fair visitors.

Four stone pillars from the property in Orleans Township once owned by Fair Secretary Leon Brown are being moved to the fairgrounds.  Volunteers from Winneshiek County Historical Society and Winneshiek County Historic Preservation Commission are collaborating with the Winneshiek County Agriculture Association members to move the pillars from the farm and zoo as a tribute to Brown, who was active in community affairs in addition to devoting many years to the growth of the Winneshiek County Fair.

Moving the pillars was made possible by the donation of time, machinery and muscle from E & B Christopher Construction of Bluffton, John Schnitzler, Ed and Mike Christopher, Shane Courtney, Calvin Rue, Ron and Eugene Bronner and property owner, Tom McGee.

Tax deductible donations are being accepted for this project.  To donate contact Edna Schrandt.

Another change being made at the fairgrounds involves completion of a hard surface area for handicap parking on the north side of the fairgrounds.  This project was made possible with funding from the Winneshiek County Community Foundation.
