Winneshiek County kids are being challenged to compete in a month-long marathon in July

Winneshiek County kids are being challenged to run, walk, or bike a total of 26 miles between July 1s and 31st during the "Summer Fun Kids Marathon."
                                                      
Every kid who completes their marathon receives a certificate of completion.  They will also have their name entered in a drawing for a variety of prizes, including a one-year Family Community Pass for the Regents Center at Luther College, a $240 value.
 
Mileage logs for tracking progress can be picked up beginning Wednesday at Decorah Parks and Recreation Office at 400 Claiborne Drive in Decorah, the Winneshiek County Extension Office at 325 Washington Street in Decorah or at the Lake Meyer Campground at 2545 Lake Meyer Road near Fort Atkinson.  Mileage logs can also be downloaded from www.winneshiekwild.com.
 
The Summer Fun Kids Marathon is a project of Winneshiek County Conservation, Decorah Parks and Recreation, the Northeast Iowa Food & Fitness Initiative, and ISU Extension. Prize sponsors include Luther College, the Cresco Fitness Center, and the Waukon Wellness Center.
