Silos & Smokestacks awards a $10,000 grant to NICC's Iowa Dairy Center

Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Northeast Iowa Dairy Foundation for its educational signage project at Iowa's Dairy Center.

The Northeast Iowa Dairy Foundation will apply the grant funding toward redesigning the interpretive signage and learning materials for the nutrition room and Hall of Breeds at Iowa's Dairy Center. The educational signage and materials showcase key nutrition concepts and Iowa's dairy story for youth participants and visitors.

"The signage used for nutritional education and learning about the dairy breeds was originally done in 2000 by Jim Hosch. In the 15 years since their installation, the images have held up well but are faded and outdated. We are excited to breathe new life into these areas to enhance the learning experience at Iowa's Dairy Center," said Iowa Dairy Center director Megan Kregel.
