Bids on three highway construction projects have been opened by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
The largest of the three projects is within the City of Decorah. The project calls for the construction of a culvert underneath Highway 52 near its intersection with Highway 9. The project is the first step in creating a bike trail that links Decorah's Trout Run Trail with Calmar's Prairie Farmer Trail. The apparent low bidder on the project was Skyline Construction of Decorah, which submitted a bid of $963,729.70.
Wicks Construction of Decorah was the apparent low bidder on the second project. Wicks submitted a bid of $292,632.75 for the project to pave the shoulders of Old Stage Road from its intersection with Highway 9 south to the intersection with River Road, then on River Road to Wellington Place. The project will be paid from State Highway Safety funds.
The final project calls for installing a turning lane on Highway 9 at the Frankville Road. Skyline Construction of Decorah submitted a bid of $127,579.75 for the project.
