Ask Mr. (Trails From Freeport) Answer Person

Posted: Wed, Jun 17, 2015 9:20 PM

(The Freeport bike trail has been a popular topic of questions sent recently to Mr. Answer Person.  Here, in no particular order, are the answers to your questions):

"Will the Freeport trail be paved with asphalt or concrete?"

Mr. Answer Person says, "All of the trail will be paved with concrete."

"Where will the bike trail end?"

Mr. Answer Person says, "The bike trail itself will go to the Haugen Hummel subdivision.  Work will be done on River Road all the way to the first bridge heading southeast.

"Is the County going to widen the road north of Freeport on the blacktop, as they have stakes all the way to the bridge where the gravel starts on one side."

Mr. Answer Person says, "As my previous answer mentioned, River Road will be redone all the way to the first bridge.  However, the project does not call for widening the road."

"Where within Freeport will the trail go?"

Mr. Answer Person says, "After crossing River Road near Wellington Place, the bike trail heads along the fences of the cemetery and into Freeport Park.  From the park the trail will go on the pavement of 252nd Street and Franklin Street, being marked by painted sharrows (there will be no bike trail built on this small portion).  When the trail rejoins River Road, it will stay on the south and east sides of River Road all the way to 260th Street.
