Farm accident claims the life of a Decorah man

A Decorah man was killed Sunday afternoon when the tractor he was driving rolled over onto him.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says 71-year-old Ray Ransom was out in a field at 138th Avenue and 258th Street when the tractor, going uphill, slid backwards and flipped. The brakes may have given out, according to the Sheriff's Department. Ransom was dead when emergency crews arrived.
