Part of Freeport Trail will open by July 4th

By far the heaviest traffic heading to Freeport is along Old Stage Road.  So members of the Trails From Freeport group are happy with news they've been given about the bike trail project.

TFF board member Dale Putnam says the group has been told that the portion of the trail from Walmart to Wellington Place will be paved by the Fourth of July--weather permitting.

Quite a bit of progress has already been made on the project, with a gravel base installed all the way to the care facility.  Putnam says the contractor now plans to pave that portion of the bike trail--so bike riders can have a safe path from Freeport into Decorah.
